Rukhsana HussainNHS Leicester Partnership Trust in Mental Health
In 2015 – after 20 years of working life – Ruksana gave up her job. Money had financed other people’s lives and she no longer had a desire for that life – false financial relationships. Giving up her job was not the only thing she gave up : she gave up resentment and anger too. Instead she decided she was going to the thing that was the most rewarding, to help people, help those who really needed help. In August 2015 she started community work and today she’s an award winning community champion. She has also set up a number of local initiatives (Outspoke and 1StepUK) and she is about to start a role as Peer Support Worker Role with NHS Leicester Partnership Trust in Mental Health.
Celebrating shared journeys (Mental Health)
My journey My Recovery– From darkness to light. Past, present and future. Shared Journeys – What others have experienced that I can relate to and reflect on. Speak the Unspoken – Setting up Outspoken, providing a platform to others to share through creative voices. As a result the Art of Words Project was created. I now work with the youth to empower themselves to be the best version of themselves. Emerging Leader – Peer Support Worker Role with NHS Leicester Partnership Trust in Mental Health.
